Chipotle Cremosa BBQ Ribs

Give your grilled BBQ ribs the perfect marinade with a Mexican twist. These Chipotle Cremosa ribs include a homemade spice rub and easy to make homemade sauce. Serve with the Chipotle Cremosa Elote for a full plate of flavor!

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds HORMEL® ALWAYS TENDER® baby back ribs
  • Spice Rub, divided; get Recipe here
  • 2 oranges, cut in half
  • 2 lemons, cut in half
  • ¼ cup canola oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Cremosa Barbecue Sauce; See recipe below
  • Chipotle Cremosa BBQ Ribs Spice Rub

  • 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons ancho chili powder
  • 3 tablespoons pasilla chili powder
  • 3 tablespoons ground cumin
  • 3 tablespoons dried cilantro
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon chile de arbol
  • Chipotle BBQ Ribs with Chipotle Cremosa Sauce

  • 1 cup HERDEZ® Chipotle Salsa Cremosa
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup dark rum
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons water

Directions

  1. Rub ribs with ½ cup Spice Rub. Squeeze orange and lemon juice on top of ribs. Cover. Marinate 2 hours to overnight.
  2. Prepare grill for medium heat. Pat ribs dry. Brush with oil and season on both sides with additional spice rub. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Grill ribs slowly with the lid closed, 30 minutes on each side or until golden brown and fat has rendered. Begin brushing ribs liberally with half with Cremosa Barbecue Sauce during the last 10 minutes of grilling. Reserve the remaining sauce to serve on top or on the side of the ribs.

  5. In bowl, combine ingredients.

  7. In small saucepan over medium heat, combine all ingredients. Bring to boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat. Simmer 5 minutes.
