DOÑA MARÍA® MOLE

A Culinary Creation by Maria Pons Nicoux

DOÑA MARÍA® Mole began its history in the 1950s in San Luis Potosí, when Mrs. María Pons Nicoux de Degetau shared this exquisite dish with her family and friends, which she prepared at home using her own artisanal methods. Due to its widespread popularity, she decided to market it.

One of the main characteristics of this brand is the glass container used to package the mole. Many Mexican homes keep these containers in their cupboards, using them like any other kitchen utensil.

For 80 years, the DOÑA MARÍA® brand has maintained their authentic recipes, full of flavor, care, and love, continuing to be present in Mexican homes as a symbol of taste and tradition.

Growing demand prompted her to build a small factory in a large house in the city center and establish Productos Marpe SA, a company derived from the fusion of the names of Doña María and Don Pedro, her husband. The constant growth of the business was decisive in the move to the company’s facilities in 1955, and also changing its name to Productos DOÑA MARÍA®, SA.

Since then, DOÑA MARÍA® mole has maintained its original recipe with 100% Mexican ingredients and its traditional method of preparation, saving us time in the kitchen.
